How does it work?
AirTag sends a secure signal over Bluetooth that can be detected by nearby devices on the Find My network. These devices send your AirTag’s location to iCloud, so you can go to the Find My app and find it on a map. The entire process is anonymous and encrypted to protect your privacy. You also don’t have to worry about battery life or data usage.
Thanks to Lost Mode you can find your things more easily
Just like other Apple devices, your AirTag can be put into Lost Mode. Then, when it's found by a device on your network, you'll automatically receive a notification. You can also set it up so that someone can get your contact information by scanning your AirTag with an NFC-enabled smartphone.
Absolute confidentiality
Only you can see where your AirTag is. Its location data and history are never stored on the AirTag itself. The devices that transmit your AirTag’s location are also anonymous, and that location data is encrypted at every step. So, not even Apple knows the location of your AirTag or the identity of the device that helps it find it.
